Crestwood Decks From Our Job Sites
Every photo here is from a Crestwood address. Most of our Crestwood work has been wood fencing, so the deck projects are a smaller share, but they show the kind of finish work Crestwood homes call for.
Two Kinds of Crestwood Deck Projects
Composite under a covered porch
A gray composite floor under an existing porch roof, finished with white railing posts and black balusters to match the house trim. The roof keeps the boards cooler and cleaner, so the deck stays nice with almost no upkeep.
Lighted stair risers
Small lights set into each stair riser so the steps are easy to see after dark, without lighting up the whole yard.
Wood decks with privacy walls
A solid treated-wood wall built into the deck railing on the side that faces the neighbors, with a spindle top. Privacy where you sit, open everywhere else.
Permits and HOAs in Crestwood
Crestwood is in Oldham County, which changes the paperwork compared to Louisville. Louisville Metro's rules don't apply here. Building permits run through Oldham County, the City of Crestwood may have its own requirements, and many Crestwood-area subdivisions have an HOA that reviews decks, materials and colors before you build.
We check all three before we start. If your HOA needs drawings or material specs for approval, tell us at the estimate so we can plan for it.
Planning a Porch or Covered Deck?
If you don't have a roof yet and want one, see how covered decks, screen porches and sunrooms compare, and how much value each one adds in our home value guide. For material choices, our composite grades guide compares the major brands side by side.
Crestwood Deck Questions
Do you build decks in Crestwood and Oldham County?
Yes. Ruth Fence and Deck has worked in Crestwood since 2017, mostly on wood fencing, and builds composite and wood decks there and in the rest of Oldham County, including La Grange and Goshen.
Who issues deck permits in Crestwood KY?
Crestwood is in Oldham County, so Louisville Metro rules do not apply. Building permits run through Oldham County, the City of Crestwood may have its own requirements, and many subdivisions also have an HOA that reviews decks. We check all three before we start.
Can you put composite decking under an existing covered porch?
Yes. On a Crestwood project we built a composite deck under an existing covered porch roof, with white railing posts, black balusters and lighted stair risers. A roof overhead keeps the boards cooler and cleaner.
Can you add a privacy wall to a deck?
Yes. We have built solid wood privacy walls into Crestwood decks to block the view from next door. A privacy wall catches wind, so the posts are set and fastened to handle the load.
