PRP Decks From Our Own Job Sites
Most of our Pleasure Ridge Park work is fencing, including a good amount of commercial work. The decks we've built here stand out because each one was built around how the family uses the yard. Every photo is from a PRP address.
What We Build in Pleasure Ridge Park
Above-ground pool decks
Decks that run from the back door out to the pool, so you step onto the deck instead of climbing a ladder. Railing and a gate keep the pool closed off.
Ramps
One PRP family needed to get a mobility scooter from the deck to the yard, so we built a long wood ramp with a handrail alongside the steps.
Grill gazebos
A small timber-framed roof with metal panels, built right on the deck over the grill. Cover where you cook without roofing the whole deck.
Low decks for ranch homes
Many PRP houses sit close to the ground, so these decks are low, with horizontal board skirting to close in the underside and curved black balusters for a finished look.
Pool Decks: The Gate Matters
When a deck becomes the way into an above-ground pool, the deck's railing and gate become part of the pool barrier. That usually means a gate that closes and latches on its own, with no easy way for a small child to climb over. We plan the gate placement and latch height up front and confirm the barrier rules for your address, so the pool deck passes inspection and actually keeps kids out.
Planning a Deck Ramp
Ramps need more room than people expect. A comfortable ramp rises gently, roughly one inch of height for every foot of length, so a deck 24 inches off the ground needs about 24 feet of ramp, often with a turn or landing. We lay it out at the in-person visit around where you actually need to go, whether that's the driveway, the yard, or a side gate.
Permits in Pleasure Ridge Park
Pleasure Ridge Park is an unincorporated part of Louisville Metro, so there's no separate city layer: Louisville Metro's rules are the only ones in play. Attached decks generally need a permit, and pools carry their own barrier requirements. We confirm what your project needs before we start.
Pleasure Ridge Park Deck Questions
Can you build a deck around an above-ground pool in Pleasure Ridge Park?
Yes. We have built decks that wrap above-ground pools in Pleasure Ridge Park. When the deck becomes the way into the pool, its railing and gate become part of the pool barrier, so we plan for a self-closing, self-latching gate and confirm the barrier rules for your address.
Can you add a ramp to my deck?
Yes. One of our Pleasure Ridge Park decks includes a wood ramp down to the yard for a mobility scooter. A gentle ramp needs length, roughly a foot of ramp for every inch of rise, so we lay it out at the in-person visit.
Do I need a permit for a deck in Pleasure Ridge Park?
Usually. Pleasure Ridge Park is an unincorporated part of Louisville Metro, so Louisville Metro's permit rules are the only ones that apply. Attached decks generally need a permit, and pool barriers have their own requirements. We confirm what your project needs before we start.
Can you build a roof over a grill on my deck?
Yes. On one Pleasure Ridge Park deck we framed a small grill gazebo with a metal roof right on the deck, so the grill stays covered without roofing the whole deck. For full coverage, see our covered deck options.
